The Senior Telecom Engineer/Architect role is to create, manage/maintain the company’s in-house/managed and cloud-based IP telephony voice and video communication. Manage and work with external vendors for services such as Web Ex, Cisco Spark and Video system architecture and its associated network connections and component hardware. This position will work independently to ensure we maintain SLAs for all organizational IP telephone applications.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Be solely responsible in the development of IP based telecommunications strategies in collaboration with the executive team.
  • Responsible for testing telecommunications performance and providing statistics and reports.
    Provide daily support and direction of operational Tasks, Issues and Service Requests.
  • Create and manage documentation as it relates to telecommunications, configuration, network mapping, processes, and service records.
  • Monitor and react to telecommunications services for capacity, stability, and agility to satisfy service level agreements with business units.
  • Develop long and short-term road map for communication services.
    Follow policies and procedures for Telecommunications resource administration and appropriate use.
  • CCNA or equivalent work experience in at least 2-of the following network disciplines (Routing Switching, VOIP, or Security).
  • 7+ years of CUCM - VOIP networking experience /technical proficiency in LAN, WAN, Network Management, and Security. Knowledge of DHCP, DNS, Windows environments

  • Must have expert level experience with Unity voice mail, CUCM 10.x, SIP, Cube, Jabber, Video, TMS.
  • Expert level background in Telecommunications services, Security and network switching is desired.
  • Provide VOIP architectural support at an enterprise level; provide product design, recommendations, evaluations, and configurations, etc.
  • Responsible for resolving Cisco UC Manager 10.x VOIP client business problems through research, installation and customization, network administration, and network management support.
  • Responsible for implementing and maintaining all aspects of the VOIP network infrastructure (i.e. Cabling- Racking/LAN/WAN/WLAN/VoIP/VPN/Network Security).
  • Provide on-call operational level support for all aspects of the VOIP hardware and software.
  • Excellent team player with ability to coordinate and cooperate with other teams and be able to provide expert level engineering capabilities and be able to provide mentoring to the other members of the team.
  • Follow established policies and procedures for the maintenance of all Telecommunications infrastructures, including LANs, WANs, VMs, Internet, intranet, security, wireless implementations, and so on.
  • Ensure compliance of all telecommunications devices to company standards in regard to device configuration and deployments.
  • Define and maintain SOPs and quality standards.
  • Assist in feasibility studies for various upgrade projects, improvements, and other conversions.


Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree or Certification Required
  • 7+ years in IT Telecommunications Engineering Experience

  • Established technical skills for Cisco Unified Communications equipment including UCCX, CER, Call Manager, CUPC, Unity Connections
  • Experience support an enterprise-wide LANs, WANs, WLANs, IP Telephony, VPNs, VMs, virtual networks, etc.
  • Functional knowledge of current protocols and standards, including OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, SIP, IPsec, DNS/DHCP and SNMP.
  • Knowledge and understanding of system flow charts, traffic flow, and data processing concepts.
  • Knowledge of advanced network services, ie IP Multicast, QOS, etc.
  • Developed analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.
  • In-depth understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives.
  • Experience with network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices.

Additional Requirements:

  • CCNA desirable.
  • CISSP and ITIL a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and be articulate enough to work with Executive Level members.
  • Advanced architecture and technical support documentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment both as an individual contributor and member of a cross-functional team.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed.
  • Keen attention to detail.

Physical Requirements: This is primarily a sedentary office position which requires the Senior Systems Engineer to have the ability to operate computer equipment, speak, hear, bend, stoop, reach, lift, and move and carry up to 25 lbs. Finger dexterity is necessary. This is a position which requires the Senior Systems Engineer frequent walking, standing and climbing of stairs in/around homes, models and properties. Must also have the ability to operate computer equipment, speak, hear, bend, stoop, reach, lift, and move and carry up to 25 lbs. Finger dexterity is necessary.
